What do you mean it is missing a year serial number?

The pics won't post because the file is too big.. make the pics smaller and post.

I think that's a fake 48. No serial and the 12 and 6 are wrong.

I think the 12 & 6 being questionable is the lesser of the issues. With no millesimation number on the case back i would be very wary.

Assuming all 48's have had the same dial detail throughout production, (with Panerai things can and do change) the 6 should be closed as per, http://www.panerai.com/s_page.xpd?id_li ... tegoria=35

Display model? As far as I know, there is no such thing.. stores display the actual watches they sell.. they don't get a non-numbered watch just to display. Every single watch from Panerai should be numbered, though Panerai isn't always consistent with everything, like baz said and there could be an exception. Possible, but not probable.

Crack open the back and see what the movement looks like. The movement should have a number on it that matches the paperwork.

I totally agree with admin.

There are usually pre production samples that generally end up sold in new cases etc as OOR (out of range) models, but the 48 has been around so long now that is unlikely in this instance, and it would still carry an OOR reference. Based on the makers website pictures the dials 6 is wrong anyway.

I do fine these requests for help where the answer isn't what the poster hopes for odd. You seek help, you got two negative opinions yet argue it may be kosher. The 48 is easily obtained just about anywhere, why not find another that you have no concerns with and simply leave this one alone

I am not arguing what so ever. Just stating what I was told. I appreciate the help.

Perhaps 'argue' was too strong, no offence was intended. If it appeals principally perhaps because it is cheap? then i think looking for another anyway is a better option if you have any reservations about the one you have shown. Two members here clearly do.

You didn't say if there was a box and papers with this example. As i said previously, with Panerai anything is possible, if there is secondary and supporting number matching paperwork who knows, maybe it is kosher. The problem is from what can be seen, it appears not to be.

Well guys, I went to get this watch checked out. It's real. It's Pam 104, older model. The watch dealer checked the BB # and opened the watch. They never seen a Pam without the year # on it.

Glad it worked out for you!

Now you can say you have a LE edition.... no serial #!
