I'm looking to purchase my first Panerai and am torn between the PAM 392 and PAM 48.

I know a lot of people discourage buying the non 44mm models, but to be honest, I'm tired of large watches on my small 6.5 wrists.
I used to wear a Breitling Super Avenger 48mm, then downsized to the Avenger 45mm, then to the Avenger II 43mm.

Anyway, back to the topic... Can anyone tell me the main difference between the Luminor case of the 48 compared to the 1950 392?

From what I can see, the 312 is fully brushed except for the bezel which is polished.
Does the 48 have more polished areas on the case?

Also, does anyone know lug to lug and thickness for either?

I am leaning more towards the 48 because I prefer the look of the dial and the cyclops.
But I really wanted in-house, and the display back of the 392 is a big plus.
