Thanks Alex for the update... Based on your experience, can you advise which country is the "best" country to buy Panerai, in terms of the cheapest price?

Mainland Europe is cheaper than the UK too :(

I know these are luxury goods but the endless two increases a year are pure and utter greed now imo.

Two base models for example, the 000 increases by £200 (£3100) and the 210 by £300 (£3900) on 01.04.12 in the UK, ludicrous for entry level Unitas powered pieces. I'm getting tired of making Richemont very wealthy

Ironically, i see the unpopular PAM 323 has been reduced by £900 in the UK :?

I've added UK prices to Alex Euro price list. There are some irregularites on some model numbers though?

What makes you so sure? The only consistant thing about Panerai new realeases is they always take an age to appear, too long in most cases, the 372 being a prime example.

That said it would be nice if your prediction was correct, personally i have strong reservations!

Hi
I have planned a holiday trip to Italy, Switzerland and stop by Paris in September. Assuming that I wish to buy a Panerai during my trip, can I say that I could get a better price in Italy than in Switzerland? Basing on the price list posted, am I right to say the actual "take away" price that I need to pay is the List Price minus the applicable VAT (eg. 15%)?

Do you think the Boutique or AD will likely to give a shop discount?

I've never managed to buy from a Boutique, the UK still doesn''t even have one!

I am told a factory owned Boutique will give nothing other than possibly a 'bonus' strap. A franchised Boutique i imagine could be more flexible if they choose to be. AD's i have found more flexible and willing to help if they can :)

If you travel on Sept, i think you should try to buy PAM00448, PAM00449, PAM00399, PAM00398, PAM00425, PAM00424 OR PAM00438.

I think if you want to buy more cheaper it should be paris.

Yes, I fully agree with you. Even in Singapore, the boutique does not give any discount at all but will let me choose the leather strap that I want (just one and no extra strap). For AD, it is more flexible. I could get a discount range from 5-10%, with or without extra strap:)

Thanks for the price list.

Is this before or after VAT? For those considering doing some shopping in Hong Kong, the prices are pretty much the same as that posted on the board, but there is no sales tax.

The UK prices i added are inclusive of 20% VAT. Based on the differential, i believe the EU prices are also inclusive of tax 8-)

Get one in Switzerland !!! Vat is 7,6 % only.
There is a nice store in Basel (Freie Strasse) and Zurich.
The Basel one gives between 5 and 10%.

Alex

Thanks for the info, Alex. Assuming that I am buying a Panerai in Basel as you suggested, the store will give 5 to 10% discount depending on models? I suppose the prices of Pam will be similiar to the price listed here? Since I am buying the Pam as a tourist and I will be bringing the watch out of the country (Switzerland), I would only get 5-10% store discount as well as Vat tax rebate of 7.6%?

If the above assumption is correct, does it make it more worthwhile to buy a Pam in Italy such that they can give a higher Vat rebate of 15-20%? (assuming the store discount is equivalent at 5-10%)

Hi Paneristis,

I have seen a number of posts asking which countries have the lowest prices. Here's a report of my recent experience:

For a Singaporean owing to exchange rates with CHF, Euro and Pounds
Italy --> Switzerland --> Paris --> London seems to be a very popular tour route these days.
1. Switzerland (Lowest Price) tax ref: 7%
2. Italy/France tax ref: 12% credit card, 10.4% cash
HKG/SIN
3. UK

Although tax refunds are higher in the EU, the prices include the additional 5%.

Some discounts ranging from 2-5% is negotiable with all AD establishments I stepped into, especially if you're willing to fork out cash. But not from the Panerai boutiques unfortunately.

Of course market and forex conditions may change, so keep your currency exchange tool ready.

There's my rational sharing from experience, but then again, is it possible to be rational with a PAM in hand? :-P~~~

Happy Hunting!

Loving my Swiss PAM359 :-)
